Teacher of Visual Impairments
SeeMac.Vision’s Teachers of Students with Visual Impairment (TVI) are certified in the state of service and provide direct instruction through in person and/or virtual through a virtual platform such as Zoom, Teams and/or Google Meets. Teacher of Students with Visual Impairment provide:
• Individualized direct instruction in the Expanded Core Curriculum
• Consultative services for students, families, and staff on how best to meet and support the needs of the individual with visual impairment
• Functional Vision and Learning Media Assessments, CVI Assessments
• IEP development and implementation
• Braille Skills Instruction
• Low Vision Instruction
• Daily Living Skills and Functional Skills instruction
• Assistive Technology support and training
• Interpreting Eye Medical Information
• Equipment and material recommendations
• Inservice training and consultative/support services for parents, families and staff
Orientation and Mobility
Working with SeeMac.Vision’s Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) people with vision loss learn to travel in their environments as safely, confidently, efficiently, and independently as possible. Working directly and one-on-one, the O&M specialists provide instruction and environmental experiences to teach the concepts, skills and techniques that enable students in public/private schools and adults in their home settings, college setting and place of business to travel independently.
The Orientation and Mobility Specialist provides:
• Orientation and Mobility Functional Travel Evaluations
• Direct Instruction and consultative services for students, families, teachers/staff on how to keep the student safe while supporting independence
• Inservice Training
• Positional, spatial, environmental concept developments
• Technology tools for travel
• Low Vision Aides for travel

• Safe street crossing techniques, route planning, public transportation skills
